How can you relate the golden rule - "Do not do unto others what you do not unto you" to the common saying "No man is an island"?

The Golden rule Do not do unto others what you do not want them to do unto you and the saying No man is an island simply states that as human beings we are all co-existing and we are dependent to each other. We cannot live separately by means of being alone without any help or interference from others because essentially God created us humans for the purpose of helping one another. The two statements can be interconnected because as we live independently, we should be kind to other people because our attitude will define how they will treat us. If we do good unto others, the same favor returns.
